This just in - The Wellsboro Gazette has made the jump to web 2.0 with a redesigned website with clean lines, flash, ajax, and the all important rounded edges. Sadly, they still don't offer an electronic subscription to the full paper through their website. Other than that, it looks good for a site with half of a story that you can't fully read on-line. It's kinda like watching a movie on the radio.
Letter to the Editor:
"I want my MTV! - err... I mean, I want an electronic subscription to the Wellsboro Gazette. Your site fully supports E-edition (as noted by the link in your main menu.) You can print from Adobe Indesign straight to PDF, I can show you how, my rates are on the computer services page. I know a whole lotta people who want an electronic subscription. Also, if you read this and start an electronic subscription, I expect the paper to be available within 5 minutes of it being printed - Don't try to sell me old news 5 days later!"
Check out their new website at http://www.tiogapublishing.com/
Update: Apparently I didn't check my sources, do my homework, and all that jazz. I found the following in a pdf from a link in their registered users e-edition section. Understand that the last part in my letter to the editor tirade stands. Don't try to sell me 5 day old news. And I quote, - from Wellsboro Gazette website:
"E-edition is coming soon
Some necessary features, such as an online billing
system, have not been implemented.
When the E-edition is ready, all print subscribers will
have free access, and online-only subscriptions will be
available for purchase. Until then, please enjoy the free web content, which
includes partial stories form the section fronts. Registered users will be notified when the E-edition
launches. E-edition is coming soon"
