Revitalize Mansfield! New MDDC Campaign

Mansfield has a new revitalization organization targetting downtown Mansfield.  It looks like they'll be doing some pretty interesting stuff with cooperation from Mansfield University, Borough, and local community members.  They're first major project will be a four-screen movie theatre to show first run movies and provide a venue for local arts and cultural actiivites.  The other projects on the list include a 24 hour diner, full service bookstore, indoor family sports center (The YMCA?) and a world class mountain bike course.  More...

Mansfield's Fabulous 1890's Weekend is fast approaching, September 25 and 26, 2009.  The 1890's weekend takes you back in time to the world's first night football game played by Mansfield Univeristy at Smythe Park on September 28, 1892.  The festival has greatly expanded over the last few years and includes two days of entertainment, crafts food and music.  More...

BLOSSBURG V.I.B.E. WELCOMES SKATEPARK DEMO TO ISLAND PARK

BLOSSBURG -- Blossburg V.I.B.E. will host the American Ramp Company 2009 skate park demonstration team at the newly resurfaced basketball court at Island Park in Blossburg on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

American Ramp Company will bring ramps that represent the three most popular build options and allow local skaters to test ride the equipment for the new Vibe Park skateboarding area, which is on schedule for opening in October. Skateboarders, inline skaters, and BMX riders can participate in the demonstration. More...

"When summer is in full bloom, so is the Tioga County Fair!  From Aug. 10th  through the 15th, the Tioga County Fair packs more exciting things to see and do in an entire week than any other place in the county.  And much of it is available for just the price of admission. 

Visit the various livestock barns, pet a goat, watch cows being milked, see sheep being sheared and pigs being judged.  Then there are the various displays of prize-winning vegetables, canned and fresh; hand-crafted quilts and clothing; photographs and paintings, even wedding cakes!  Bid on the winning apple pie at the Baked Goods Auction.  And with the price of the $5 gate admission fee, enjoy free carnival rides, as well as a host of other free events all week long for your amusement." Tioga County Early Days

I'm starting to get information about the Fall festivals, so here's the first one I have. 

The weekend offers a chance to visit an old fashioned country fair. All weekend long, one can see draft horses in action, either reaping and binding buckwheat (weather permitting), pulling vintage farm equipment, plowing and threshing, or turning a five-horse sweep. Also on display are gas engines, antique tractors, and other vehicles. In addition, there are displays of: chainsaw carving, a saw mill in operation, a blacksmith at work, a working shingle mill, quilting demonstrations, a fresh-produce farmer's market, a real cider mill in operation, Native American demonstrations and displays, and a large flea market.  More...
